Tuesday Blog: College Football is better when it is personal, especially Michigan vs. Ohio State

Jim Harabaugh was asked this past week about whether or not he has any respect for Ohio State Head Coach Ryan Day, who his team will face this Saturday in a massive college football heavyweight fight. Now, Harabaugh`s response was very telling. He said “ "It's all about our preparation for Ohio, the days, the minutes, the hours, everything leading up to this game. That's where our focus is. Preparing ourselves -- planning, practice and then execute. Anything else is irrelevant.`` That is an answer without giving an answer, which is to say Jim Harbaugh has no respect for Ryan Day. For the record, Ryan Day feels the same about Jim Harabaugh, famously saying on a Big Ten head coaches' conference call, that they (Ohio State) would, “hang 100” on Michigan. That is the reason why college football is better when it's personal because it`s real. Now, it is no secret that the Michigan and Ohio State rivalry has always been just a little more personal, but it is taken to a...

Tuesday Blog - Giants/Cowboys, Michigan

It's a beautiful fall Tuesday and it was a brutal weekend gambling, so bad, in fact, that I had to sit out betting on the NFL this sunday. Alas, we move on.  Tough times don't last, tough people do. After a great workout and an iced coffee, drizzle in some good looking middle aged women at the gym, and  I`m ready to take on this week of late 20s unemployment.  Lots of wonderful MACATION on the board this week and we will certainly be getting involved, the Thursday Night NFL game looks to be a good one. However, we must discuss the Dallas Cowboys. The 2023 version of the Dallas Cowboys are the only football team in the history of the sport to win a game 49-17 and prove nothing other than a pile of average. That is what average teams do, they beat bad teams and lose to good ones. It's the Cowboy way.  Finally, Michigan has officially buried the naysayers, all the cry baby coaches, administrators and fans can now crawl back into their respective holes and shut up...

Giants QB situation and Wednesday MACACTION

This Sunday, Giants Quarterback Daniel Jones suffered a torn ACL in the Giants game against the Las Vegas Raiders, thus ending his season. The Giants turned to Tommy Devito, but to no no avail as the Giants fell to the Las Vegas Raiders 30-6. This comes on the heels of a three game hiatus by Jones, who was sidelined due to injury. As unfortunate as a season ending injury to your starting quarterback is, this could be the blessing in disguise for the Giants, as they look to move forward as a franchise. There is no secret that Brian Daboll would prefer to have someone much more capable, and as of right now the New York Giants sit at the 4th pick overall of next year's draft, The Giants need to make the hard and fiscally painful decision to part ways with Daniel Jones, and draft one of the potential generational talents at QB in next year's draft.  MACATION - Eastern Michigan +19.5 - EMU have won 4 of their last 5 ATS.

Tuesday MACACTION Blog

It's Tuesday, you know what that means. Yep , MACATION TIME, and my lord!! Do we have a full slate tonight. I have action in two of the three games tonight.   We begin at Waldo Stadium, in a true battle of MACACTION stalwarts between the Chippewas of Central Michigan and the Broncos of Western Michigan. I love the over in this game, it currently sits at 58 and that is where the money is currently at, according to the betting splits. Also, both teams have winning records as it relates to point totals, with CMU's over/under record is 5-4 and Western Michigan owns a over/under record of 6-3.  Finally, we finish our light card of MACACTION in Buffalo as the Bull of University of Buffalo take on the Ohio University Bobcats. This is simple, hammer Ohio. I have had two seasons now of riding Ohio and making money. They have a quarterback in Kurtis Rourke who is a legitimate NFL caliber quarterback and will have the coaching staff advantage, give me the Bobcats -7.  C...

Cowboys fall, Texans Rise....Coach`s Corner Monday Blog

It's a beautiful Monday morning, and we have the Jets +3 tonight. It was a brutal Sunday , way too many beers, mixed in with some red bull vodkas and a triple dipper from Chili's will certainly put a man down, it also didn't help that the bills laid the egg of the century in Cincy last night. Alas, we move on to another week of a mostly fruitless job search and further descent into alcoholic loser hood. In other news and speaking of laying eggs, stop me if you've seen this movie before, the Dallas Cowboys have come up short in a big game on the road. The Dallas Cowboys served up their usual special of average topped with underperformance as they fell to the Philadelphia Eagles, 28-23. Dak was great for me in fantasy, but it's clear that Dak`s fantasy prowess does not translate to winning in big time games the way elite quarterbacks are asked to.  As for the rest of the NFL, I can say with all the conviction in my boozed-up body that the Houston Texans are for real...
